Impact and a New Future for the Middle East
The core issue in the Middle East is the occupation of
Arab lands by Israel. The reality
of violence and discord emanating from this conflict stands in the way of
normalcy for both Israel and Palestine. The consequent and
constant irritation of the unresolved condition of "Occupier" and
"Occupied", and the unremitting attempts at a military solution,
produce a demoralizing impact on the Israeli people and desperation and despair
among the Palestinian people. The continuation of this condition both
fosters and sustains the continuing enmity between East and West. The
ending of this conflict and the establishment of an equitable and enduring
peace will release an enormous amount of energy and creativity for both Israel and Palestine which will be
reflected throughout the Middle East, altering relationships with
Western nations as well.
